Four new free schools approved for ARK Schools’ network

Monday 3rd June 2013

All four of ARK’s recent free school applications have been approved by the Secretary of State for Education.
Over the next two years, the following schools will join the network:

• A primary school for ARK’s Burlington Danes Academy in Hammersmith, transforming the school into an all-through academy
• A second Ealing primary to join ARK Priory which is opening in September
• An Enfield secondary school (joining ARK John Keats, an all-through opening in September)
• A new all-through blended learning school with an emphasis on technology (location still to be determined).

We are now in discussions with local councils to ensure all new sites meet the needs of the community.

ARK Schools runs a network of 18 academies in London, Birmingham and Portsmouth. We are opening a further nine academies in September 2013, including two new secondary schools in Hastings. Of our ten academies so far inspected by Ofsted, nine are rated good or outstanding and we are the best-performing network for pupil progress between age 11 and GSCE results.
