ARK Schools is delighted to announce the appointment of Lucy Frame as principal designate of ARK All Saints Academy, the ARK Schools/Church of England academy which will open on the site of St Michael and All Angels Academy in Camberwell in September 2013. She will take up the post in January which will give her two clear terms of preparation for the opening in September.

The Duchess of Cambridge took part in an ARK outdoor challenge with children from ARK's King Solomon Academy. The duchess chatted to the children and saw their activities, such as building a shelter and a camp fire. 
The course was part of ARK's programme of schools-led outdoor adventure trips, designed to enable schools in inner-city areas to lead their own trips at low cost.

ARK, Eurochild and Hope and Homes for Children called on EU decision makers to take decisive action to help end the harmful and unnecessary institutionalisation of over a million children in Europe. 
This includes dedicated cohesion policy funding for the de-institutionalisation of children in the new EU budget and the development of clear policy guidelines and monitoring mechanisms at EU level.

ARK Schools will sponsor the new ARK Kings Academy which opens in September following the decision of Kings Norton High School to become an ARK academy in pursuit of their ambition to make Kings Norton High School an outstanding school. Today ARK announces the appointment of Kieran Larkin as the principal of ARK Kings Academy.

The first national audit of the Romanian child care system - carried out by Hope and Homes and co-funded by ARK - was launched in Bucharest at a conference gathering 170 key government and non government actors within Romanian child care on April 4th. 
As the first rigorous and comprehensive analysis of the country's child care needs and facilities, the audit is a critical step in ARK and Hope and Homes' plan to close all remaining institutions for children in Romania by 2020.

Today’s results confirm leading academy group ARK Schools’ fifth consecutive year of improved GCSE performance across its academies. The five ARK academies with GCSE results achieved an average rise of 11 percentage points over the 2010 results. Since each school opened as an ARK academy the average annual increase in pupils achieving five GCSEs at A*-C including English and mathematics is also 11 percentage points.

Can text messages help people living with HIV?
ARK has partnered with Vodacom Mozambique to trial the use of SMS technology in improving the adherence to Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) for people living with HIV/AIDS. 
Launched in Maputo province, this 18-month trial across six health centres will enrol 932 patients on ART. All HIV+ pregnant women seeking treatment to prevent mother-to-child transmission will also be included.
