A primary school’s pioneering work with maths teaching has won a special award at the annual TES School Awards.
ARK Atwood Primary Academy in Westminster has been working with the Mathematics Mastery programme to ensure that all pupils do well in maths, whatever their background. Based on research from the UK and abroad – in particular, from high-performing Singapore – Maths Mastery aims to help every child to enjoy maths.

ARK Schools has had its applications to create two brand new free schools in Croydon approved by the Department for Education.
The proposals will create a new primary academy with 660 places for local children, including a nursery with 30 places. In addition, a secondary academy will be built that will cater for 1,200 students, including a 300 place sixth form.

ARK Kings Academy students recently got to spend a day at Oxford University as guests of Wadham College. Students learnt about the benefits of higher education and came away from the day with greater confidence about their future choices. The visit formed part of ARK Kings Academy’s ongoing commitment to enrichment and high expectations for all.

ARK is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Anderson as Head of Education Ventures at ARK.
Ian will be leading the International Education Ventures team. This is an integral part of ARK's education strategy, which is focused on operating excellent schools, improving education policy and developing new initiatives that will be critical to improving education systems. The team will be building on the work ARK has already done in India and Uganda as well as establishing some exciting new initiatives.

ARK Schools today reported the network’s seventh GCSE results for the eight ARK academies which have GCSE students. Across the network, 58% of pupils achieved five A*-C grades including English and mathematics, with attainment in both English and mathematics outperforming national attainment.

They visited ARK Globe Academy alongside social entrepreneurs from Africa in order to learn more about the ethos behind the school's success.
Matt Jones, Principal of ARK Globe Academy, met with social entrepreneurs from Uganda and Nigeria to talk about the impact strong vision can have upon a school.
