Isaac Newton Academy, an all-through Ark school in Ilford, East London, has been rated outstanding by Ofsted for the second time in a row. 
The school first opened in 2012, and the results from its latest cohort of GCSE students put it in the top 2 percent of schools in the country for Progress. 

Nature vs. nurture debate

Research has shown that the quality of a teacher is the most important factor in a student’s achievement, more than school leadership, prior attainment or any other variable.
If teachers are so important to a student’s success and recruiting and training more teachers is a national priority, why is it that we know so little about what makes one person more likely to become a successful teacher and stay in the profession versus another?

Ark new schools

This September Ark is welcoming three schools in South and West London to the network, bringing our total number of schools to 38 across Birmingham, Hastings, London and Portsmouth.
Ark Acton Academy (previously Acton High School) is a six-form entry secondary school and sixth form in Acton, West London. Ark Acton will benefit from links with the proposed nearby secondary school Ark Soane Academy, due to open in 2021.

Ark sixth form students and staff were celebrating A level results across the network this morning. In Birmingham, Hastings, London and Portsmouth, our schools opened their doors to welcome students eager to find out whether they had made it into their chosen university or apprenticeship course.

Ark is pleased to announce that John Blake will be joining the organisation as Curriculum Design Lead. He will also take on the role of Director of Strategy and Policy for Now Teach, the Ark-incubated venture working to encourage experienced professionals to retrain as teachers.
John is an experienced educator who has been a schoolteacher, and a senior school leader. He was a prominent activist in the National Union of Teachers and founder of the grassroots network “Labour Teachers.”

A group of year 3 and year 5 students from Ark Swift Academy in west London were recently treated to an American football training session, featuring coaches and a star from the National Football League (NFL).  Hosted by professional team the Jacksonville Jaguars, the event was filmed as part of a documentary on American Football presented by Vernon Kay.

Summer Sounds - Ark Music Festival

Young musicians from Ark schools across England will band together for the first ever Summer Sounds Music Festival, celebrating music-making across the network. The event takes place at Ark Swift Primary Academy, on the soon to be developed EdCity site in West London, on Saturday 23 June 2018. 

Ark Helenswood Academy
Thursday 24th May 2018

Ark Helenswood Academy in Hastings is today celebrating its Ofsted report, which has graded the secondary school as good after its recent inspection. The school was previously deemed as requires improvement. 
The Ofsted inspectors said: ‘Senior leaders, governors and members of the Ark schools multi-academy trust have worked with dedication to rapidly improve the school. Together they are committed to the school’s continued improvement.’
