KSA students meet Chancellor Rishi Sunak

A group of students from Ark’s King Solomon Academy (KSA) discussed careers in economics and politics at a memorable meeting with the Chancellor Rishi Sunak at the Treasury in Whitehall in London this week.
The special event was organised to mark International Women’s Day and the Year 10 and Year 12 female students took the opportunity to reflect their hopes for the future, their career aspirations, and how best to break down barriers faced by women.

Hammersmith & Fulham council leader, Cllr Stephen Cowan, and Ark chief executive, Lucy Heller, have hailed the £150m, not-for-profit regeneration of the EdCity site as “an exciting moment for the White City community and beyond”.
The two joined forces on Tuesday 8 March to mark the start of work to construct the new community facilities on the site, including a new Ark primary school, youth zone, affordable homes and office accommodation.

Former Ark students can now apply for an Ark Teacher Training (ATT) grant to support their first years of training.
Students will be eligible to receive funds up to £3,000, paid over the three terms of their training year.
Ark Teacher Training is an ‘Outstanding’ school-based two-year Initial Teacher Training programme, where people train on the job and learn from a network of education experts. Trainees are based in a school from day one, engaging with children straight away.

Ark Globe Academy is pleased to confirm that is has received a Good rating in their latest Ofsted report, with pupils saying they are proud to be part of the school.
The report published today said: “Pupils feel proud of the school”, adding that “Leaders have high aspirations for every pupil. Staff are united to achieve the school's mission statement, which is to prepare all pupils for university and to be leaders in their community.”

BTECs should be retained and continue to be properly funded as part of a range of post-16 options offered to students, according to Ark Schools in a position paper published today.

We held our first #ArkTalks event of the year last month, which looked at the recent comprehensive spending review and the settlement achieved for education.  
We were delighted that, once again, Times Columnist Rachel Sylvester chaired the event. She was joined by Luke Sibieta from the Institute for Fiscal Studies, who leads their annual report on education spending; Jonathan Simons, Partner and Head of the Education Practice at Public First; and Sam Freedman, Senior adviser to Ark and Senior Fellow at the Institute for Government. 

AC+ English Mastery

English Mastery, a knowledge-rich, key stage three curriculum and teacher development programme delivered by Ark Curriculum Plus, has been selected for a two-year Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) efficacy trial.
The trial is being funded by the Department for Education’s (DfE) Accelerator Fund, which aims to support schools across the West Midlands, East Midlands and the Humber, and the North adopt research-informed practices to improve educational outcomes.
