Ark Blacklands in Hastings is today celebrating its Ofsted report, which has graded the primary school as ‘outstanding’ in all categories. The school was previously deemed as requiring 'special measures' before it joined the Ark network in 2014.
National Ofsted data shows that of nearly 4,400 schools currently rated as 'outstanding', only 11 have managed to achieve this result despite an 'inadequate' grading at their previous inspection.

Ambition School Leadership

On 22 November two Ark-incubated charities, Teaching Leaders and The Future Leaders Trust, merged to form Ambition School Leadership. The two organisations had announced their intention to join forces in June, bringing together 18 years’ combined success of developing leaders in schools throughout the country.

Ark Kings rated ‘good’ by Ofsted
Ark Kings Academy is celebrating a positive Ofsted inspection.  
The school, in the Kings Norton area of Birmingham, has been judged ‘good’ in every area. Ark Kings is led by Principal Roger Punton, whose leadership and management style was praised by inspectors as being “totally inclusive and committed to the achievement of the pupils in his care”.

New initiative, Now Teach launched by FT journalist, to bring high-flyers into the teaching profession
A shortage in STEM and language teachers across the UK has led long-time Financial Times columnist, Lucy Kellaway to leave the world of journalism and launch Now Teach, an initiative tackling the crisis head on.

A BBC Two documentary due to air Sunday 13 November at 9pm examines the differences in life chances between black and white children in 21st century Britain. The BBC visited Ark Globe Academy in South London as part of their filming and features Principal Matt Jones.

This week, pupils and staff at Ark Lajpat Nagar III were delighted to welcome the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Najeeb Jung. He was accompanied by senior officials from the South Delhi Municipal Corporation.

It’s the week before school opens in Liberia, and staff in Cecelia A. Dunbar School in Todee district are preparing for something completely new. For the past few years, the school’s problems have been typical of Liberia’s education system: ‘ghost’ teachers collect a government pay-cheque without coming to work, children struggle to make sufficient progress in class, and even the simplest of equipment is scarce – “the children bring their own chairs to school” says principal Ezequiel.

On Thursday 15 September, Alex Wilmot-Sitwell - Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa - visited Ark Burlington Danes Academy in west London for a Q&A session with sixth-formers. During the hour-long session, he and the students discussed topics ranging from career opportunities in banking to issues facing the UK and the world of finance.

Today we are welcoming a new school to our network. Ark Paddington Green Primary Academy in west London has opened its doors to local children aged 4-11. The school is situated between Edgware Road, Paddington railway station and picturesque Little Venice. The school building has great facilities for young children, including a woodland play area.
