The Partnership Schools for Liberia programme (PSL), an initiative that the Ark Education Partnerships Group has been supporting, has recently received its first set of encouraging results. The independent evaluation found that students in PSL schools learned 60% more than their peers at other public schools. The evaluation also found that there were significant improvements in school management and a higher quality of teaching in PSL schools.

 On Tuesday 5 September, Ark and Bloomberg hosted a careers discussion between ex-Cabinet minister, Ed Balls and CEO of Now Teach, Lucy Kellaway.
The two former colleagues, who met early in their careers at the Financial Times (FT), discussed their lives at work, their unconventional careers, and the future of teaching.

Ark King Solomon Academy

Despite tougher exams and reforms to GCSE grading, many Ark students across the network of schools were celebrating strong results this morning. We spoke to some students immediately after they opened their envelopes, to find out how they are feeling...
With nine GCSEs at the very highest possible grades, 9 and A*, Halema, from Ark Isaac Newton Academy in north-east London is the highest achieving student in the network. She's also part of the school's first cohort to take GCSEs since opening in 2012.

Walworth Academy

Ark students across the network have been opening their results this morning, excited to find out what their next big step will be. All of our sixth forms have positive stories to share, with students gaining entry to Russell Group universities and setting out on the path to the careers of their choice.
Amarachi, Year 13 student at Ark Evelyn Grace Academy got two As and a B in her A levels, and is off to study English Literature at Warwick University.

Ark supports summer programme in response to Grenfell Tower fire

This summer, as part of the response to the Grenfell Tower fire, Ark and the Aldridge Foundation have coordinated a programme of events in West London for young people and their families. The West London Summer Programme is being delivered by Future Foundations and is based at Ark Burlington Danes Academy.

Ark Blacklands Primary Academy

Ark Blacklands Primary Academy in Hastings is one of eleven new schools chosen to become a Research School. The school has been awarded £200,000 over three years to boost the quality of teaching in the region through better use of research.

Amy Hanna
Tuesday 11th July 2017

Amy Hanna, Head of English at Ark Academy in Wembley, has won an £11,000 prize to fund a fantastic idea that has ignited her students’ passion for English. Amy was awarded the prize by judges of the Let Teachers SHINE competition. This funding will help get her educational YouTube project off the ground and launch it to a wider audience of students.

More than 600 students from 28 schools came together for Ark's 9th Music Gala, held at London's Barbican Centre on 30 June. The annual celebration, part of Ark's extensive music programme for schools, gives students from throughout the network the opportunity to perform at a world-class venue in front of family and friends. 

Lorraine Clarke receiving Pearson Silver Award
