Understanding the teenage brain

Bradley Busch is an HCPC registered Psychologist. He is a partner at InnerDrive, developing student mindsets in schools and designing and delivering teacher CPD. Bradley has become one of the leading experts on how psychological research can best help students and teachers. He writes regularly for The Guardian and works with Premiership footballers and athletes from Team GB.

Ark Conway Primary Academy in Hammersmith has been recognised at an awards ceremony for its commitment to workplace wellbeing. The school were awarded Gold in Mind’s inaugural Workplace Wellbeing Index, which shows they are achieving excellence within their workplace.

Performing a range of pieces, from Beethoven movements to Michael Jackson pop songs, nearly 100 Ark students gathered together recently for a three-day residential music programme.
Ten Ark schools participated in the event, which brought together singers from Ark’s "Spark" mass choir and instrumentalists from Ark’s "Fusion" ensemble.

On Tuesday 21 March Ark hosted “Art for Ark,” an auction arranged in partnership with Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch has supported Ark since 2004, most recently working with Mathematics Mastery to help transform maths attainment across the UK.
Forty-five pieces of artwork from students and teachers across the Ark network were hung in London’s famed Saatchi Gallery. Guests, including staff from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, were invited to bid on the pieces in a silent auction.

Ark Blacklands Academy

Hastings and Rye MP Amber Rudd visited Ark Blacklands Primary Academy on Friday 3 March to congratulate the school on being rated as outstanding in a recent Ofsted inspection.
Ark Blacklands became one of only eleven schools in the country to go straight from an inadequate grading to outstanding.

The annual event inspired activities in Ark schools that highlighted the achievements of women from local communities, businesses and universities as well as inspirations from across the globe.

Daisy Christodoulou, Head of Assessment at Ark, has added to the assessment debate with her new book, Making Good Progress? The future of Assessment for Learning. The book analyses the impact that Assessment for Learning has had in classrooms. 

Micah Dolphy
Monday 13th February 2017

Micah Dolphy, student at Ark Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton, London, has released her first book, Poetic Surds. The collection of poems was written in tribute of Micah's late father. 
To celebrate the success of Poetic Surds, Ark Evelyn Grace was chosen by Micah to host a special book launch on Wednesday 8 February 2017. The book launch was well attended by Micah’s family, friends, school and local community.

On Saturday 4 February 2017, teaching and education professionals came together to discuss 'What makes excellent teaching?'
The event featured keynote speeches from Sir David Carter, National Schools Commissioner, and Lorraine Clarke, Principal of Ark Blacklands and Ark Little Ridge primary academies. Throughout the day teachers took part in practical workshops and inspiring talks, ranging from Technology for teaching and Understanding the teenage brain to The behaviour management cycle and The characteristics of great teachers.
