ARK Burlington Danes Academy will expand with the opening of a new two-form entry primary school, welcoming its first 60 reception year students in September 2015 following planning approval being granted by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. The school had been scheduled to open in 2014, but had been put back a year due to delays with temporary accommodation.
The brand new primary school building will be constructed on Burlington Danes’ existing 10-acre site and will mean ARK Burlington Danes Academy will become an all-through school offering an outstanding education for children aged 4-18. The primary school will benefit from being part of an established academy with excellent facilities including a performing arts theatre and a 3G sports pitch. .
The primary school building will accommodate 420 primary and 30 nursery students when full, and will have a separate secure outdoor space so that it will still have the intimacy and nurture of a small primary school. ARK Burlington Danes Academy has been rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted, and achieved a 100 per cent A-level pass rate this summer.
“This brand new primary school is an important part of our strategy for our borough’s growing population,” said Cllr Sue Macmillan, Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Education. “Burlington Danes Academy has an outstanding record, and this new school will help ensure the next generation of children continues to enjoy a high quality education from the outset.”
Michael Ribton, Principal of ARK Burlington Danes Academy, said; “I am really excited that we will open a primary school, enabling Burlington Danes to offer an all-through education developing really strong relationships with each individual child from reception through to sixth form.”
There will be a series of open evenings for parents interested in applying for spaces in the new primary academy. More information can be found on the ARK Burlington Danes website, and admissions applications can be filed via Hammersmith & Fulham’s website.
