ARK launched a new partnership this week with the charity Hope and Homes for Children, which aims to support the Romanian government to permanently reform its childcare system.
At the official launch, hosted by the British Ambassador to Romania, Martin Harris, Hope and Homes for Children, ARK and senior representatives of the Romanian Government outlined their ambitious plans.
The two leading international children’s charities pledged to help Romania become the first Eastern European country to end the large-scale institutional care of children. The Romanian government has committed to closing all remaining institutions in Romania by 2020 and Hope and Homes for Children and ARK will support them to develop sustainable, quality child care services – to enable children living in institutions to leave and prevent further children from being institutionalised.
