Ark Putney Academy
Tuesday 9th January 2018

Sinead Brown, a year 10 student from Ark Putney Academy in London, has won a place on the new Office for Students panel, a government-approved regulatory and competition authority for the higher education sector in England. Sinead was selected from 70 applicants and will become the panel's youngest voice for higher education reform.

Today marks the launch of Ark Ventures, which aims to incubate, launch and scale up initiatives that have the potential to transform the lives of children. 
Many of the initiatives ideas started in Ark schools. Others have come from innovators and partners outside of Ark. But they all share the ambition to address some of the most intractable issues in education and society – and they all have the potential to deliver widespread system change.
Ark Ventures contributes strategic and operational support while the ventures are growing into sustainable organisations.

On Saturday 25 November 2017, education professionals from Birmingham and across the UK gathered at The Birmingham Repertory Theatre in the city centre for Teach 2017 – a one-day professional development conference open to all teachers.

On 9 November, children from Peepul’s Lajpat Nagar 3 school had the unique opportunity to meet with HRH Prince Charles. The Prince of Wales was on the last leg of his 11-day Commonwealth tour of Asia.
Peepul, an Ark supported venture, is an education-focused non-profit organisation. Formerly known as Ark India, Peepul have been operating in India since 2010, and have partnered with government and non-government agencies to execute high impact education programmes, focused on raising the standard and improving learning levels in government schools.

The Institute for Teaching, a new specialist graduate school for teachers, officially launched yesterday (2 November) at an event in Manchester attended by Justine Greening MP, Secretary of State for Education.

Lajpat Nagar III
Tuesday 12th September 2017

Ark has supported the launch of two new schools in Delhi, India. The schools follow the same template as the flagship school, Lajpat Nagar III, which opened in July 2015 and has seen great success in its results and attendance figures.

Monday 11th September 2017

The Partnership Schools for Liberia programme (PSL), an initiative that the Ark Education Partnerships Group has been supporting, has recently received its first set of encouraging results. The independent evaluation found that students in PSL schools learned 60% more than their peers at other public schools. The evaluation also found that there were significant improvements in school management and a higher quality of teaching in PSL schools.

 On Tuesday 5 September, Ark and Bloomberg hosted a careers discussion between ex-Cabinet minister, Ed Balls and CEO of Now Teach, Lucy Kellaway.
The two former colleagues, who met early in their careers at the Financial Times (FT), discussed their lives at work, their unconventional careers, and the future of teaching.
