Ark students are celebrating A level and BTEC successes following a uniquely challenging year. 
The COVID-19 crisis meant that year 13 students were unable to sit their exams this summer – and recent controversy about how grades have been calculated by the exam regulators have created confusion and uncertainty.

First off, you should know you have done something amazing, something no other young person has ever been asked to do: to complete their schooling in the face of a global pandemic. This has been an incredibly demanding year and we are immensely proud of you all.

Today, the winners of the Ark Sports Day Challenge were announced. In total, 3,805 people across the network took part and completed a fantastic 195,027 km. 
Ark Academy won the coveted top spot for the school that travelled the furthest. They covered an incredible 23,943 km over the two weeks of the challenge. In second place was Ark Dickens who clocked up 23,566km and in third place, Ark Alexandra with 19,396km.  

Tuesday 14th July 2020

Schools from across the Ark network have created a music video featuring students and alumni to celebrate the end of the school year and showcases the joy and creativity of Soca music.
Ark Music usually hosts an annual Gala concert at the Barbican Centre - bringing together hundreds of students from Ark’s 37 schools to perform for their friends and family. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this summer’s concert had to be postponed.

Ark is organising a different type of sports day this year, the Ark Sports Day Challenge. The Coronavirus pandemic has meant children will miss out on their traditional school sports day, so instead, Ark has decided to stage a virtual version.
From July 1st until the 15th, students, parents, and school communities can ‘travel’ the distance around the world, which is 40,000 kilometres.

Wednesday 17th June 2020

Kate Magliocco has been appointed as Regional Director at Ark for London and Portsmouth primary schools and will start in September. 
Kate will provide invaluable support to Principals and senior leaders and help them continue their journey of delivering excellent educational outcome for students. 

Friday 12th June 2020

Ark Alexandra has appointed Liam Collins as its new Principal, and he will take up his new role in September.
Mr Collins is currently Director of Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Assessment at GLF Schools, a group of 40 primary and secondary schools across the UK. His appointment follows the retirement of Yvonne Powell, who has Executive Principal at the school for two years. Ms Powell was previously the Principal of Ark Walworth Academy in south London.

Friday 29th May 2020

The Government has confirmed that schools can begin to reopen from 1 June, starting with children in nursery, reception, year 1 and year 6. Other year groups will continue to learn at home.

Ark Oval Primary Academy continues to be a ‘good’ school according to the Ofsted latest report published this week.
The inspection took place at the school in Croydon on 4th and 5th March before the Coronavirus pandemic forced UK schools to close on 20th March.

Ark John Keats Academy, based in Enfield, has been shortlisted for the Award for Making a Difference – Secondary School of the Year in the Pearson National Teaching Awards, Education’s Oscars.
Chosen from thousands of nominations, Ark John Keats is one of 85 shortlisted nominees. The school, its teachers and staff have been recognised for their work with parents and the local community providing education for North Enfield and ensuring every student has the opportunity to make the right choice for their future.
