Speaking at the GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation) Pledging Conference today, ARK Chairman Ian Wace announced that ARK will double its contribution to the government's GAVI Matching Fund for Immunisation to £2million ($3.2million). 
ARK was the first organisation to take the government up on its offer to match private donations through GAVI, earmarking an initial £1million for the roll out of the rotavirus vaccine in Zambia.

ARK last night won one of the most prestigious awards at the annual UK Charity Awards 2011.
The international aid and development award recognised ARK's work in Bulgaria to support children in leaving institutional care and prevent children from being abandoned.  ARK Bulgaria was recognised for having successfully closed, for the first time in the country, an institution for children and for spearheading reform of the child protection system.

King Solomon Academy primary featured on Channel 4 News on 16 June in an item that reported that “the vast majority of pupils here are doing better than the national average.”
 
On 21 June The Times reported on the visit of Dr Yeap Ban Har – Singapore's leading expert in maths teaching  - to ARK Schools where he led a training day for teachers and to King Solomon Academy where he taught year 2 and year 7 pupils.

The international children's charity ARK is the first to pledge money to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) Matching Fund for Immunisation, the centrepiece of UK efforts to improve access to new vaccines in the developing world.
The £1million pledge will be matched by the Department for International Development (DFID) and will boost ARK's programme to prevent and treat diarrhoeal disease in Zambia.

ARK launched a new partnership this week with the charity Hope and Homes for Children, which aims to support the Romanian government to permanently reform its childcare system.
At the official launch, hosted by the British Ambassador to Romania, Martin Harris, Hope and Homes for Children, ARK and senior representatives of the Romanian Government outlined their ambitious plans.

President Barack Obama and Prime Minister David Cameron visited ARK Globe Academy on Tuesday 24 May, as part of the President's State visit to the UK.
The President and Prime Minister had a high speed mini-tour guided by head boy Farid Sarwari and head girl Durga Abdi.

After meeting Principal Jason Baigent and Chair of Governors, Paul Marshall, our guests met year 5 primary school pupils who demonstrated their knowledge of the solar system following a recent project on the planets.

The international children's charity, ARK, today announced the appointment of Ian Wace as its chair to succeed Stanley Fink who is stepping down in recognition of his other business, political and charitable commitments. Stanley Fink, whose extraordinary and inspiring contribution to philanthropy was recognised last week when he was awarded an IVCA (International Visual Communications Association) Champion Award, will continue to be an active trustee of ARK and ARK Schools and Chair of Governors of Burlington Danes Academy.

The Rt. Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Education, today joined Principal Jason Baigent and Chair of Governors, Paul Marshall, to welcome new and returning students to ARK Globe Academy and celebrate the opening of its outstanding new buildings.
The academy's new buildings, designed by Amanda Levete Architects and built by Mace Plus, provide state of the art new facilities including excellent, light filled teaching space, a modern performing arts centre and a full sized sports centre.
