Leading researcher Dr Susan McGrath and Sarah Taunton, Head of Programme for Professional Pathways at Ark, shared key findings and recommendations from a three-year research project evaluating Ark’s post-16 vocational programme at today’s launch event. 
Fulfilling the potential of BTEC learners: the Ark Professional Pathways programme’ includes qualitative and quantitative research involving more than 700 Ark students to assess the success of the Professional Pathway programme.

Ark Boulton Academy in Sparkhill, south Birmingham, is now one of only two secondary schools in England to have achieved the School of Character Kitemark Plus.

Ark Acton Academy has introduced new compulsory weekly sports sessions and its students are reaping the benefits of increased morale, lower post-pandemic anxiety and greater focus.
Along with a new range of optional clubs at lunchtime and before and after school, all of Year 8 and Year 10’s students now have a compulsory weekly sports session, alongside their regular PE lessons.

Monday 4th October 2021

The first Year 7 students started at Ark Soane Academy, our brand-new non-selective school in Acton last month.
The first phase of the school’s buildings are complete and students are enjoying the facilities on offer. 
178 students joined the new school in September, including Hudayfah Malik, Retadj Amrane, and Younis Ali.

Ofsted inspectors have praised Ark Alexandra Academy’s positive progress and said, “Leaders and those responsible for governance are taking effective action in order for the school to become a good school”.
The school’s current Ofsted rating of ‘Requires Improvement’ was conducted in 2017 when it was known as Ark William Parker Academy.
Since merging with Ark Helenswood and becoming Ark Alexandra in 2019, the school has rapidly improved, which was noted on 13th July 2021 when Ofsted last visited as part of its monitoring schedule.

Many of our schools have made the most of the summer to help students catch up. Along with a focus on literacy and numeracy, students have embarked on a range of adventures. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with many students feeling much more positively towards school as a result of activities over the summer. We spoke to some of our headteachers and principals to find out how their summer schools went.

Ark’s Chief Executive has joined a range of education leaders to propose a plan to support schools' recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Lucy Heller is joined by Geoff Barton of ASCL, David Hughes of AOC, Leora Cruddas of the CST, Paul Tarn of Delta, Martyn Oliver of Outwood Grange, Sir Hamid Patel of Star Academies and Sir John Coles of ULT to ask for an additional £5.8bn over the next three years.
