Oldknow Academy in Birmingham has today announced that it will join the Ark network of academies in September 2015 following the unanimous approval of the school’s trustees.

Last week, seven pupils from across the Ark network were lucky enough to be part of a professional football match.
Pupils from Ark Atwood Primary Academy, Ark Brunel Primary Academy and Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy were selected to be mascots at the Tottenham Hotspurs vs. Partizan Belgrade match.

Jacqueline Steele has been announced as the Executive Headteacher of a brand new primary school in Acton, Ark Byron Primary Academy. This senior leadership role will be in addition to her current post at Ark Priory Academy.
This development allows both schools to benefit from shared leadership, teaching and operational staff and resources across both sites.

On Monday, four students from Evelyn Grace Academy spent the day as civil servants learning about government departments and how they set their annual budgets.
The Cabinet Office Spending Challenge was part of Parliament Week, a government initiative to raise political awareness and engagement by 16-25 year olds. Schools from across the country participated.

Ark had cause to celebrate in the fifth annual EducationInvestor awards this year, winning ‘best school operator – academy chain’ in a gala ceremony held in London. The academy network beat competition from other major academy groups including Ormiston to win the prestigious trophy.

The catering team at Helenswood Academy brought home the bacon this week after winning an award for the best allergy-free school dinners in the country.
Helenswood  was presented a FreeFrom Eating Out Award by top chef Anthony Worrall Thompson at an event in London on Tuesday 18 November. The annual award celebrates quality food that is free from common allergens such as gluten, wheat, dairy, soya or nuts.
