Charter Academy has opened its new state-of-the-art building in a ceremony led by a high-ranking Royal Navy officer.
The Opening Ceremony marks the culmination of eighteen months building works, providing new classrooms and facilities for students, alongside its older buildings.

ARK Schools have beaten the odds to increase the percentage of students achieving 5 good GCSEs – despite a national drop in the rate of students receiving the same results.
Overall, 58% of students at ARK schools got 5 GCSEs A*-C, including English and maths, compared to a national average of 52.6%
Despite a drop in the number of students at other schools achieving 5 A*-C grades from 59.2% in 2013 to 52.6% this year, ARK’s academy schools not only held the line – but even increased the percentage of students achieving this marker by four percentage points.

Ark's Evelyn Grace Academy hosted a prestigious TEDx speaker event, with a diverse audience from across London visiting the school to hear high-profile speakers address social issues.
Under the theme “When Worlds Collide”, speakers including Amma Asante, the BAFTA-winning director of biopic “Belle”, and ‘iPhone poet’ Dean Atta shared their insights on race identity, climate change and the changing role of technology.

The Prime Minister hailed the success of one of the most improved schools in the country during a special visit to Charter Academy in Portsmouth.
David Cameron described his visit to the ARK school as "inspiring" during a two-hour tour of the new school building where he met the principal, Dame Sharon Hollows, along with students and staff.

A Paralympian athlete has inspired pupils at a new ARK academy to aim for greatness at the school’s opening ceremony.
Paralympian Claire Harvey, who captained Team GB’s sitting volleyball at the London 2012 Olympics, praised the ethos of ARK Elvin Academy during the academy’s official opening.
ARK Elvin Academy replaces Copland Community School and is now a new member of the ARK Schools network, a multi-academy sponsor with a track-record running successful academies, including King Solomon Academy, one of the ten best secondary schools in the country.

20 million children in sub-Saharan Africa do not continue their education past primary school. This is true for 75% of girls in Uganda.
ARK is supporting our partner PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) to run 24 secondary schools in rural Uganda.
In this short film commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child, we meet Atemo, one of our students from a small village who dreams of being an engineer.

The internet entrepreneur Jimmy Wales visited schoolchildren in Wembley yesterday who got the chance to quiz him about the journey to setting up the fifth most popular website in the world.
The Wikipedia founder spoke to students at ARK Elvin Academy in a broadcast that was watched by students in schools across the UK. Several of the students in the audience were born after the creation of Wikipedia in 2001.

Doug Lemov, educationalist, Managing Director of Uncommon Schools and author of Teach Like a Champion led the latest Reflections on Leadership lecture for Ark at Walworth Academy in South East London on 23 September.  This lecture series is aimed at Ark staff and gives them an opportunity to hear successful leaders from the fields of business, politics and the public sector to explain how they have dealt with challenges of leadership.
