Ark scoops prestigious award for “unwavering dedication” to online safety

Ark has been recognised for its unwavering dedication to keeping school communities safe online by the national charity SWGfL.

SWGfL praised Ark’s commitment to online safety, saying, “The work done at Ark has made a significant impact in this space, and we would like to present you with an award for your outstanding role in helping to create a safer online world.”

The awards were presented at a special event at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter to celebrate SWGfL’s 25th anniversary.

The ceremony was attended by influential voices from across the online safety landscape as well as those who have shaped SWGfL’s journey over the past 25 years.

Ark Head of Safeguarding Jane Baldwin, who accepted the award for ‘Commitment Towards Safeguarding’ on behalf of Ark, said, “I’m delighted that Ark’s contribution to online safety has been recognised by SWGfL, who are real leaders in the field of filtering and monitoring.

“It’s vital that children can use new digital technologies safely. At Ark we have worked hard to ensure that we have robust and appropriate filtering and monitoring systems across our network of 39 schools as a key part of our safeguarding protocols.”

Claire Hayden, SWGfL Head of Customer Services and Operations, said, “SWGfL started working with Ark Schools to provide their assisted monitoring service over four years ago and the relationship has gone from strength to strength.

“The focus that Ark places on safeguarding children is second to none, and the work done by the safeguarding team across the MAT should be recognised and praised.

“We are really proud to be working alongside Ark and hope we can continue to work together for many years to come.”

SWGfL works to ensure that everyone can benefit from using technology free from harm. Forming a third of the UK Safer Internet Centre, the charity advises schools, public bodies and industry on safeguarding and positive online safety policies.
