Two senior leaders from the Ark network have published a new book of case studies with the aim of sharing best practice with teachers and school leaders across the country. Great Aspirations contains interesting, innovative and successful practice from a wide range of outstanding primary, secondary and all-through schools across London.
Rachel Macfarlane has been teaching in and around London for the past 30 years. She’s the Principal of Ark’s Isaac Newton Academy, an all-through school in Ilford which opened in 2012.
Damian McBeath is Regional Director for several Ark primary schools in London and Portsmouth, including Ark Atwood and Ark Conway Primary Academy. Both schools, along with Isaac Newton, feature as case studies in the book.
It is the eighth book in a series of case studies from the Going For Great programme, run by the London Leadership Strategy. Going for Great supports outstanding schools to learn from each other and, in turn, support the schools around them.
Rachel Macfarlane said, “The schools in the book have varied features: single sex and mixed, academy and maintained, faith and secular, large and small, mainstream and special: yet what they all have in common is a desire to strive to continually improve and to learn with and from others. We hope that this collection of insights into great practice will engage and interest school leaders and teachers across all of London’s schools and inspire them to put pen to paper and write their own case studies.”
The book, Great Aspirations, will be released on Monday 12 March 2018. You can purchase a copy from Amazon.
