The first Year 7 students started at Ark Soane Academy, our brand-new non-selective school in Acton last month.
The first phase of the school’s buildings are complete and students are enjoying the facilities on offer.
178 students joined the new school in September, including Hudayfah Malik, Retadj Amrane, and Younis Ali.
Hudayfah said:
“The learning environment helps us flourish and we always aim high in lessons and in the community. We are being well prepared to go on to the best universities like Oxford and Cambridge. I love being a founding student and will be kind to other younger students next year and continue to show respect to the teachers and staff who always help us to be our best versions of ourselves.”
Retadj said:
“Ark Soane Academy is an amazing school. It may be strict, but it is nice! I chose Ark Soane because of its outstanding lessons and discipline. I especially love our enrichment activities as we learn new skills like henna, journalism, first aid and more. I like that we get a new Sport every half-term and that all our teachers are so skilled at what they do. I love this school.”
Younis Ali said:
“I like Ark Soane Academy and the way the teachers and students are always respectful and polite. The discipline is outstanding here. And I love the way the teachers are putting in so much effort to help us achieve our best. I hope Ark Soane grows and grows.”
Ark Soane Principal Matt Neuberger said:
“We are committed to providing an outstanding academic education for all our students to enable them to live happy and fulfilled lives as the drivers of their own destinies.
“I am delighted by the excitement with which our new school has been welcomed by the local community and so proud of the dedication and commitment our students have shown in their transition to secondary school.”
The second phase of construction is due for completion by the start of next academic year (2022-23) and will include nine state-of-the-art science labs and four DT workshops as well as a four-court sports hall and a full-size AstroTurf pitch.
Once completed, the school will occupy the first three floors of a six to 12-storey building, with 113 apartments located above with segregated access.
