Ark established the bursary programme ten years ago to help us achieve our ambition that young people’s career potential would be determined by their passions and talent, not their financial circumstances. Bursaries are awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence, contribute to their school and community, and have a financial need. The programme has helped over 550 students access higher education.
We are extremely grateful to Marshall Wace, The Reuben Foundation, Urbanest, and a private donor for their invaluable support. Their generosity has been instrumental in sustaining the bursary programme and ensuring students have the means to pursue a university qualification.
This month, Marshall Wace hosted its annual event to celebrate the most recent bursary recipients. It was also a networking opportunity for young people, allowing them to practice this key skill, make professional contacts and connect with their peers from other Ark schools.
Sarah Taunton, Ark’s Head of Destinations, said: “Being awarded a bursary can truly make a world of difference for a student. We are incredibly grateful to our partners for their continuous support and generosity. Their commitment will play a significant role in empowering our students to reach their aspirations. I wish all our students the best of luck as they eagerly await their results!”
I am very grateful to receive the bursary as it will relieve some of the financial pressures of being a university student. This will allow me to focus on my studies and give me access to various opportunities I wouldn’t have been able to participate in otherwise.
