Ark Alumni launches month-long programme supporting young people

Tuesday 17th November 2020

Ark Alumni has launched Arkvent, 25 days of events helping young people with professional development as a response to lack of work opportunities available due to COVID-19.

Between Monday 16th November and Friday 18th December, there will be daily events, training, and resources on the Ark Alumni online platform to support them on their educational and career pathways.

Alumni will have the opportunity to sign up for exclusive events from some of the partners, including 1:1 CV checks with Bloomberg and mock interviews with Bain & Company.

Arkvent is part of the Beyond Ark programme designed to continue supporting students once they have left an Ark school. It helps minimise the challenges young people may face by giving them access to career opportunities and networks to keep their personal and professional development.

More than 7,000 alumni across Ark schools are accessing support and the programmes designed to help them including:

  • University Bursary programme: providing students with high financial need with bursaries ranging from £3,000 to £50,000 to support them to access Higher Education.
  • Next Steps programme: supporting alumni with their transition from school and into their early career. This launched in September in response to the school and university closures because of the pandemic. Outgoing Year 13s have been provided with a mentor from the alumni network at the same university or doing the same course as them. These volunteer mentors from the alumni network have become Alumni Leaders and will benefit from mentoring from one of our industry partners, free accredited training, and an ongoing series of events to support them to enter their early career.
  • Ark Gap Year programme: providing a paid year-long opportunity to work in an Ark school supporting with tutoring and extracurricular activities, in addition to being provided with a professional development module.

If you are an Ark school alum and want to find out more about these programmes or a business interested in supporting or advertising opportunities to the alumni community, please contact Maia Madhvani, Alumni Engagement Manager.
