London Schools Excellence Fund supports expansion of Maths Mastery

Wednesday 23rd October 2013

ARK’s maths education programme, Mathematics Mastery, is pleased to announce that it has received funding to support children at Key Stage 1 from 30 more London primary schools from the Mayor of London’s new fund for education.

The London Schools Excellence Fund (LSEF), which is part-funded by the Department for Education, has been established by Mayor Boris Johnson as part of a wider mission to ensure young Londoners have access to the highest quality education.

Maths Mastery, a proven approach to teaching maths that supports children to understand fully and master the subject, is already being implemented in over 100 schools throughout London, Birmingham, Portsmouth and Suffolk. Of those, more than 80 are in London. Now in its second year of implementation beyond the ARK Schools’ network, teachers are seeing fantastic results: in some schools, pupils have achieved more than double expected progress.

Would you like your primary school to start teaching Maths Mastery?

Mathematics Mastery is now welcoming applications from primary schools who would like to use the approach in their Year 1 classrooms from September 2014. There are a limited number of fully-funded and self-funded places available.

If you would like to find out more, come along to our open evenings on:
