Primary pupils get the chance to be mascots at a professional football match

Tuesday 2nd December 2014

Last week, seven pupils from across the Ark network were lucky enough to be part of a professional football match.

Pupils from Ark Atwood Primary Academy, Ark Brunel Primary Academy and Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy were selected to be mascots at the Tottenham Hotspurs vs. Partizan Belgrade match.

The lucky pupils got to wait in the tunnels with the players, before walking out to huge applause and lining up with the players before the match. The match took place at White Hart Lane, a stadium with a capacity of over 36,000 people.

After their performance on the pitch, the pupils got to watch the match with their parents, before taking home their new Tottenham Hotspurs kits.

All seven pupils were nominated to take part by their teachers for the positive impact they have had at school and on their peers.

“Having the opportunity to be mascots at the Spurs match was a great opportunity for King and Ellie and both wanted to do it again straight away,” said Dominic Smith, Headteacher, Ark Brunel. “Ellie has been wearing her Tottenham kit almost ever since, which has been slightly worrying for her mum who is a big West Ham fan! School should be about experiences like this, so a huge thank you to everyone who made it possible.”

This opportunity was given to Ark by Western Union Business Solutions.
