Through our Destinations programme, students are supported to think and prepare for the world beyond school, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in their next steps – be it university, apprenticeships, or the world of work.
We also offer means-tested bursaries for those who need financial support, working with a wide range of partners to break down the barriers many of our students face. Our Destinations work offers the chance to support students across our schools with eye-opening careers support as well as individualised support for some of our most talented students.
I first met Sky at an event organised by Ark, which gave me an insight into the business and its opportunities. At the event I heard from many volunteers, who spoke about their experiences and provided insights into careers and the working world.
I was able to use these tips in real life. I learnt how to prepare for job applications, and it gave me the chance to practice my networking skills and speaking to different people.
Malachi went on to secure a Digital Marketing apprenticeship with Sky and is now employed full-time as a Marketing Executive.
Our Careers and Destinations Programme can only succeed with support from donors and partners.
We are always looking for volunteers to give their time and talents to benefit our students. Professionals can talk to students about their jobs and provide insight into the reality of working life. Companies can open their doors to showcase their industries to the next generation and upcoming workforce. And universities can offer taster days so students can improve their knowledge and understanding of higher education.
We also need philanthropic donations to sustain the programme and activities. While some careers provision is provided from core school budgets, it is not enough to offer the quality and quantity that our students deserve.
