Kheth’Impilo: Tackling HIV/AIDS in South Africa
Ark’s HIV/AIDS programme in South Africa was our first health initiative to be handed over to a local partner, Kheth’Impilo, which continues to have a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children. The transfer to this local non-governmental organisation formed by former Ark employees took place in 2009. During its time in South Africa, Ark treated 88,400 patients, supported 93 clinics, prevented 115,000 children from being orphaned by or dying of AIDS and trained 4,300 health and community workers.
