“My time on the SPRB gave me a far greater appreciation of the dedication, resilience and professionalism of school staff. Through visits, discussions with leaders and my SEND and safeguarding link roles, I developed a deeper understanding of both the opportunities and challenges schools face in supporting every child to succeed.
“The training and support were excellent from the outset, and I quickly felt confident in the role. As a parent representative, I had opportunities to visit schools, speak with leaders and staff, and contribute to important discussions.
“Taking on SEND and Safeguarding Link roles was particularly rewarding. It gave me a real appreciation of the dedication of school staff and the challenges schools balance every day to support children and families.
“My advice to anyone considering the role is simple: go for it. The time commitment is manageable, the support is there when you need it, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution while learning more about how schools and the wider education system work.”
