Ark primary pupils achieve exceptional SATs results

Year 6 pupils across Ark’s primary schools are celebrating another strong set of Key Stage 2 Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) results.

More than three-quarters (77 percent) of Ark pupils met the expected standard in reading, writing and maths this year – 14 percentage points above the national average of 63 percent.

Around one in eight (13 percent) achieved the higher standard of greater depth, exceeding the national figure of nine percent by four percentage points.

Ark’s commitment to supporting pupils from all backgrounds is also reflected in this year’s results. Pupils eligible for pupil premium achieved strong outcomes, with 72 percent reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths – well above last year’s national average benchmark of 47 percent.

Strong results were also recorded among pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), with 42 percent meeting the expected standard in the combined measure – nearly double last year’s national SEND average of 24 percent.

The results are particularly notable as this year’s Year 6 pupils are the first cohort to complete their primary education journey after beginning Reception during the Covid-19 pandemic, having experienced disruption during the earliest years of their schooling.

There were standout results across the network, with more than 90 percent of pupils at Ark Isaac Newton and Ark Franklin meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and maths.

Several schools also achieved significant year-on-year improvements. Results at Ark Little Ridge and Ark White City both increased by more than 10 percentage points – while Ark Kings improvements saw their outcomes rise by 21 percentage points to an exceptional 90 percent.

In addition, pupil premium students at Ark Globe and Ark Victoria achieved outcomes above 80 percent.
