Daisy Christodoulou, Head of Assessment at Ark, has added to the assessment debate with her new book, Making Good Progress? The future of Assessment for Learning. The book analyses the impact that Assessment for Learning has had in classrooms.

Micah Dolphy, student at Ark Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton, London, has released her first book, Poetic Surds. The collection of poems was written in tribute of Micah's late father. 
To celebrate the success of Poetic Surds, Ark Evelyn Grace was chosen by Micah to host a special book launch on Wednesday 8 February 2017. The book launch was well attended by Micah’s family, friends, school and local community.

On Saturday 4 February 2017, teaching and education professionals came together to discuss 'What makes excellent teaching?'
The event featured keynote speeches from Sir David Carter, National Schools Commissioner, and Lorraine Clarke, Principal of Ark Blacklands and Ark Little Ridge primary academies. Throughout the day teachers took part in practical workshops and inspiring talks, ranging from Technology for teaching and Understanding the teenage brain to The behaviour management cycle and The characteristics of great teachers.

Ark King Solomon Academy, a non-selective school near London’s Edgware Road has been ranked in the top five schools in the country - higher even than any selective school, according to league tables released by the government.

The Education Secretary, Justine Greening, announced the opportunity area programme would now be expanded to 12 new areas, including Hastings.
In a speech delivered on 19 January,  she set out the role of education in removing obstacles to social mobility, and the importance of ensuring that all young people can fulfil their potential.

Stuart Barter is a Specialist and Mentor Leader at Artis, an arts education company helping children achieve at school by integrating the arts throughout their learning. Stuart is running a workshop at Teach 2017, in which he will introduce performing arts tools to creatively explore stories, settings and characters.

David Gould, the recently retired Principal of Ark St Alban’s Academy, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for his services to education.
In a career spanning nearly five decades, David has taught in schools across the West Midlands, and since 2005 was Principal of Ark St Alban’s Academy – a school that he transformed from one of the worst performing in the country, to one of the best.
